"Our annual fall trip to the Beczak Center is the anchor for our study of the Hudson River Valley for my third grade students. The total experience at Beczak--the interactive displays and aquariums, the incredible seining adventure and the Estuary Model program--gives my students a firm foundation for our studies for most of the year. As we learn about the water cycle, fish anatomy and food webs in the river and forest woodlands in class, I constantly refer back to our trip to Beczak, which really sets the stage and effectively grounds the students' learning. "Beczak is "our" local environmental effort. Cathy and I feel the educational efforts at Beczak will have a lasting effect on how our community experiences and regards the Hudson River and the surrounding area. We can look at the River every day, but pulling a fish out of the seining net reminds us that we all depend on clean water for life. The health of the Hudson River is primary for us so funding Beczak makes the most sense. We love the H2O programs, the access to the river, and the bonfires!"
